David Thoener Updates

2015 brought VINTAGE TROUBLE to iTUNES. The new album “1 Hopeful Road” contains a production of mine, “Strike Your Light”. It was recorded in 2012 with 13 additional songs including “Pelvis Pusher”, “Run Like The River” and “Another Man’s Words”, which have appeared on their website only. Those songs helped the band get signed to Bluenote Records and the new album aside from “Strike Your Light” was produced by Don Was. Hopefully the future will find a release of the magic captured on those 4 days in 2012 at a Santa Monica LA studio.

I left for Japan in May to record my very loyal client Miyuki Nakajima. My 12th record with her. Returning in July to mix for three weeks.

New singles by Saul Hernandez were released in 2015 from the album “MORTAL”. New English artist Martin Harley recorded an EP that I mixed and a DVD that I mixed as well. Hunter Hayes performed a concert for CMT that I recently mixed and it has aired. I have found it very rewarding to teach several times this year for Blackbird Academy and look forward to more teaching in 2016.

Reconnecting with Tony Brown this past month to record vocals with Jewel on a forthcoming Cyndi Lauper record was a delight. There will be more updates in the near future. Wishing you all very Happy Holidays!
